I started Ailana J. with a mission to help breastfeeding mamas live their best lives. When I was breastfeeding my son, Mason, I desperately needed more functional clothing, especially when I went back to work and was regularly pumping. I searched for nursing apparel that felt like ME –clothes that fit my style and reflected my identity. But I could not find anything. Every brand looked like it made nursing apparel for the same customer, and that customer was not me. I also wanted clothing that could make the transition between nursing and pumping seamless, and I couldn’t find that either.
I really couldn’t fathom how this could be. Let’s take a look at a few my favorite apparel brands – Zara, Topshop, ASOS, VICI, Current/Elliott, Rails, Paige, AG, 7 for All Mankind, Anine Bing, ALLSAINTS, Alice + Olivia, Madewell, Free People, Reformation. If you can find it at Nordstrom, I’ve probably tried it. Yet, when it came to finding nursing clothes, there was NOTHING that fell into these categories! Crazy.
So I decided to make it. I designed each piece to be incredibly functional, but absolutely fabulous. I wanted to create a company that allows breastfeeding women to stay true to themselves because becoming a mom changes a lot of things, but it does not change the essence of who you are. Why should you change your entire sense of style because you are now a mom? You shouldn’t. Ailana J. is here to make sure you have what you need to breastfeed with ease, but stay on trend. I can’t wait to be a part of your breastfeeding journey –it’s going to be amazing!
